Marvin Lewis Hathaway was born November 26, 1933 in Danville, Vermillion Co., Illinois
to Sina E. Hathaway. This was her maiden name. No father has been found.

Mavin L. Hathaway, 79, of Lavaca passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013, in his home.
He was born Nov. 26, 1934 in Danville, Ill.
After high school, he enlisted in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War.
He had 40 years with the U.S. Postal Service with the last 25 years as postmaster
of Lavaca. He retired Dec. 29, 2000. Mavin was a 48-year member of the American
Legion. He served as post commander, past judge advocate, District 13 commander
and on the state level as northwest vice commander. He was a member of First
Baptist Church in Lavaca.
He is survived by his wife, Melba; a stepson, Donny Coyle and his wife Sharon;
three step grandchildren, Josh Clemmer and wife Abby, Amanda Moore and husband
Michael and Kelly Dyer; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Lavaca with the Rev.
Grady Rice officiating.
Burial will follow at Lavaca City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m.
today at Edwards Funeral Home. Service is under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Ellie Boydston, Josh Clemmer, Michael Moore, Dale and Larry
Montgomery and Steve Turner.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Jubilee Sunday school class.
